The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Karnataka was setup to ensure a planned development of technical education in the state of Karnataka, which is consistent with the policies of both the state and Nation. About 300 Polytechnics from across Karnataka are affiliated to the DTE Karnataka along with several Junior Technical School (JTS) and Government Engineering Colleges. The primary functions of DTE Karnataka is to administer, supervise, control and plan programs for the development of Technical Educational Institutions in the Karnataka both at the Degree and Diploma levels.
